Since our establishment in 1972, we have worked to develop affordable housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
We opened our first group home in 1974, and currently operate six homes in Newton and Wellesley, Massachusetts. All NWW homes are in attractive neighborhoods with easy access to stores, libraries, banks and other community services. Two to seven residents live in each home, and five of the homes are staffed 24-hours-a-day. Our staff assists residents with daily living at home and getting to appointments and enjoyable recreational activities in the community. Each resident participates in a day program, works in a supported setting or competitive job, or enjoys retirement activities. Our licensed clinical social workers (LCSW) work directly with each NWW client to assess the level of support they need and ensure that each person is in a residential setting that will enable them to develop as many independent living skills as possible, and to participate fully in the community.
NWW's homes are located in the Newton villages of Newton Corner, Waban, West Newton and Newton Centre, and in Wellesley Square.
Our West Newton home was developed in partnership with Citizens for Affordable Housing in Newton Development Organization, Inc. (CAN-DO). CAN-DO developed the affordable housing, and NWW provides the staffing. Our other homes are owned by NWW or are provided by HUD Section 811 Supporting Housing for Persons with Disabilities program.
Our LICSW has extensive experience in the field and assists individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and their families, in finding resources and planning for the future.
